HYGEIA Health Market is my personal concept of what a health and wellness store should be. With a broad and comprehensive product line, I feel that no other company offers the diversified and complete selection of health and wellness products found at HYGEIA.
The HYGEIA approach is to improve health and wellness by integrating proven health promoting technologies into a person’s lifestyle. I spend as much time as possible studying the latest published research to learn the most effective application of natural and herbal therapies, using vitamins, herbs, amino acids, supplements, foods, etc., for healing the mind and body. Through continual research and study, my goal is to find clinically proven health and wellness that can improve the health of my clients and our customers, with a focus on products that can easily be integrated into a person’s lifestyle, so that health improvement can become so natural that no conscious effort is required.
HYGEIA was the goddess of good health. In classical sculpture she was represented as a woman holding a large serpent in her arms. In Greek and Roman mythology, Hygeia was a daughter of the god of medicine. She was the goddess/personification of health, cleanliness and sanitation. She also played an important part in her father’s cult. While her father was more directly associated with healing, she was associated with the prevention of sickness and the continuation of good health. More broadly, she ruled over matters of clean-living, washing, eating well, looking after yourself; actually of having a preventative attitude toward disease, and preventing the onset of illness in the first place rather than trying to cure. Her name is the source of the word “hygiene”.
